Xavier Rudd-good spirit

Xavier's 1st live album does a great job at capturing his amazing sound. Sometimes it's hard to believe that there is just him playing a multitude of instruments, sometimes all at once, with only support from his drummer. The man possess way too much natural musical ability that it should be criminal. His songs reflect his positive relationship with Mother Earth and with his involvement with the Aboriginal communities. He can play a number of didgeridoos, various styles of guitar, harmonica and percussion instruments with skill and expertise and is amazing to see perform on stage.
This record covers alot of the earlier part to Xavier's career. Tracks like "Let Me Be", 'Messages', 'Shelter' 'To Let' and 'Green Spandex' from the first 2 Xavier Rudd releases. The crowd respond well to the songs and was recorded between shows in Sydney and Melbourne. Melodic and complex, beautiful and stirring, his songs require the listeners attention and can hold an audience captive through the 70 odd minutes of this album.
Having seen him play in the past, 'Good Spirit' is an excellent showcase of Xavier Rudd's live sound. And I am looking forward to seeing him play again at this years Falls Festival, especially seeing how some of the newer, heavier tracks go compared to the tracks performed on this album. If you don't get a chance to see him, pick this one up to get an idea of how good he is.
