Alkaline Trio will be heading back into the studio in the new year to record an acoustic “unplugged” album. Matt Skiba, the bands vocalist and guitarist confirmed in a recent interview of Alkaline’s plans. The new album will feature re-workings of some classic Alkaline Trio material plus some new songs as well.
Skiba is also looking to record his second full length solo album in 2011 as well which will feature drummer to just about any band who needs him, Josh Freeze (The Vandals, Guns N Roses, Nine Inch Nails to name a few).

Me First and The Gimme Gimmes will celebrate they tour of Australia by releasing an Australian cover EP in February....two months after they visit....(???) The supergroup have put their punk rock flavour to some iconic Australian pop songs including Olivia Newtown John, Rick Springfield and INXS. Head to the No Sleep Til facebook page to hear ‘All Out Of Love’.

Bouncing Souls and Hot Water Music will be teaming up for a new EP to celebrate their tour of Australia. The band decided to record a cover of each others songs for the limited edition EP. The Bouncing Souls will play “Wayfarer” while Hot Water Music have a crack at “True Believers”. The record will be available from January 11th through Chunksaah Records.

Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem has hinted the band may begin work on a new album as early as the beginning of the new year. In his blog site Brian praises the talents of Dire Straits and in particular Mark Knopfler saying " Mark Knopfler was a genius and people don't say that enough."
The band will be out in Australia in February playing Soundwave and a handful of sideshows as well.

Matt Riddle, bassist from No Use For A Name has been hospitalised with acute pancreatitis. Tony Sly from the band issued the following statement.

Tours? Well 2011 has plenty of them coming through. Ska band Streetlight Manifesto will hit in April along with City & Color (Dallas Green of Alexisonfire). Punk legends D.O.A will also make a trip down in the new year and so will Suicidal Tendencies. Add this to the growing list of sideshows from Big Day Out and Soundwave means alot of punk fans will surely go broke by the time the tax man comes. See below for dates
