Weezer- raditude

For those who heard the first single on the radio before the album came out, ‘If You’re Wondering If I Want You To (I Want You Too)’, probably would’ve said to themselves that Weezer have pulled off another catchy song and would’ve got excited by the album. I did. Yeah, the title is a bit stupid but also for a man who recently turned 30, it took me back to the 90’s where we used alot of dumb words in our vocabulary.
Imagine the disappointment when after hearing the single, the rest of the album kind dropped off into pointless childish lyrics and uninspiring songs. Damn it, why do Weezer do this so many times. Look, I’m a fan. But I may just be the last one they have left after this record. Tracks like ‘Girl Got Hot’, ‘Can’t Stop Partying’ and “In The Mall’ are juvenile. You’d expect those sort of lyrics from a pubescent 15 year old, not a man who has been writing songs for the last 20 years.
I don’t know, maybe Rivers is having a mid life crisis and longs for his childhood. But it seems to me that Weezer have less good songs on an album as they keep releasing them. In fact, the only good Weezer album seems to be the colour albums. (Blue, Green and Red) One thing for certain, a best of Weezer album would be a cracker because we’d finally get a Weezer album of all killer and no filler. (..yes that was lame, but so is the album)
