Trash Talk - ‘eyes & nines’
August 2nd 2010 10:39
Sacramento hardcore punkers Trash Talk step up a notch on their new record ‘Eyes & Nines’. Blending crust and thrash with traditional hardcore stylings, this album is hard, harsh, fast and brutal and will assault you in under 18 minutes.
Opener ‘Vultures’ is a short sharp kick to the stomach before continuing the punishment with ‘Flesh & Blood’ and ‘Explode’. The band at times touch on 80’s trash metal sounds with rapid fire drumming and blistering guitars. ‘Hash Wednesday’ is the only let up on the album being a four minute dirge with a slower, heavier pace. The final 6 tracks pick up where the first three left off and rip and burn until the albums closer and title track ‘Eyes & Nines’.
Guest appearance from Bad Religion’s Greg Hetson on ‘Vultures’ and produced by The Bronx’s Joby Ford, “Eyes & Nines” is a blast of pure hardcore delivered with venom and intent. I am blown away at how many great hardcore punk albums have come through already this year. Having never really been a huge hardcore fan I have been turned around by great records from Cancer Bats, Deez Nuts and now this one by Trash Talk.
