Summer time and the living is easy....

Aaaaahhh, festival season. It is like musics version of the sporting final series. All summer long, a million and one different festivals. There is something about a good music festival. Whether it be a one day event like Big Day Out or Homebake or a multi day event like Falls and Pyramid Rock. Festivals create a vibe. A sense of tens of thousands of like minded souls converging to one field with the same motivation. Good music.
It's the best place to check out alot of bands and artists who may not of paid big money to go see on their own. A festival is a little bit like a compilation CD. You may find some great new talents, you find some to be a bit disappointing. But be guaranteed, by the end of the day you will be; exhausted, sunburnt, probably drunk and dehydrated and missing some items of clothing.
Coming into this great time of year and to tie in with my trip down to Lorne for this year's Falls festival, I thought in the lead up I'd review some albums from some of the acts on the bill. This years event is headlined by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Moby. With a huge Aussie contingent with the likes of Hilltop Hoods, Lisa Mitchell, the Temper Trap, Xavier Rudd and Urthboy. The event is another sell out, which seems to happen alot with festivals these days. With over 30 acts playing across two locations (the other being in Tasmania) over two days, there is no better way for a music fan to see in the new years!
