Strung Out-agents of the underground
December 3rd 2009 20:43
Strung Out do what Strung Out have done for the last 20 years and play their version of punk. Riff heavy with screeching guitar solos mixed with harmonised vocals and Jason's imaginative lyrics. Take the best bits of 80's metal and the best of 90's punk and you get Strung Out.
Fans know what to expect and they deliver. Songs to rock out to like ‘Andy Warhol’ and ‘Carcrashradio’. The almost metalesque ‘Black Crosses’ and Jordan's double kick drum thumping away throughout the record. If you have never a fan of Strung Out. This won't change your opinion. And while it's no ‘Twisted by Design’ or ‘American Paradox’ it's still a solid record.
The theme of starting again seems to reoccur throughout this record. Prehaps the band are telling us they are starting again. Maybe we’ll see a new direction. Maybe they might do the cool thing and go on hiatus and start side projects or do solo tours. Who knows, but at least we have 20 years of great work to keep listening to over and over again.
