Skipping Girl Vinegar-sift the noise

Can you smell it in the air? The warm smells of BBQ’s, freshly mown grass, the soft sea breeze. The smell of cold beer and good times. Yep, summer is approaching. Days where you can spend sitting in your backyard, on your balcony with a few friends, a few drinks and chill. Soaking in the warmth and bathing in the golden sunshine.
Thats the feeling I get when listening to this album. The Melbourne four piece have created an album worthy of listening to on late, lazy summer afternoon. Soft,sweet yet powerful songs to set the mood to end a perfect summer weekend.
The band allow the songs to ebb and flow throughout the album with tales of Melbourne life and worldly travels epitomized in tracks like ‘Wandered’, ‘River Road’ and ‘Drove For Miles’. For me the stand out track is the opener ‘One Chance’. Possibly the most raucous song on the album without sounding out of place with the rest of the indie/folk styles that are displayed throughout the rest of the record.
Skipping Girl Vinegar also take immense pride in their art. To match the songs the album is well presented in a gatefold CD and comes in it’s very own library bag. (like the ones you had in infant school) And continues the library theme with a library card, stamped, inside the yellow enveloped just like in the back of library books. The band have also set on a quest to bring the art of letter writing in their “Postal Revolution”. And while your writing your letters to long, forgotten friends and relatives, listening to this album. It is a beautiful record.
