Only The Sea Slugs - Street Music
November 22nd 2011 08:45
Sydney five piece Only The Sea Slugs have released their debut EP ‘Street Music” combining all their musical influences to create an aural montage of soundscapes that float around the speakers. (or headphones) The first thing that impresses me about this release is the layers the instruments provide the songs. The band have worked very hard to create the perfect sound for each track and it’s clear they have spent a lot of time getting the right mix.
The production on this mini album is slick and professional. The sounds are crisp and vocalist Sash’s voice is a real highlight in the songs. Lead single like “Moonpark” and opener “She Says” being the standouts on this album. Musically, the band are swirling indie pop with shoegazer elements mixed together.
This is really an impressive first release for Only The Sea Slugs. The band have been growing in popularity around the local scene and soon on a national level. Definitely worth checking this EP out along with any of their shows.
