Make Do And Mend - End Measured Mile

Unyielding punk rock with muscle is what you will get from Make Do And Mend’s new album “End Measured Mile”. Well, it’s not new. The album was released State side last year but has finally found a distribution label for Australia, giving us a taste of what the kids in the US have known for a few years now. A quality post hardcore punk outfit with anthemic songs that will sure to generate singalongs and mosh pits in any city they play.
The rough, screamed vocals of James Carroll spit out passion and reminds alot of a mix between Hot Water Music and Off With Their Heads. The guitar lines are razor sharp and rhythm packs enough punch to appeal to any angry young male. It’s definitely an album to appeal to the heavily tattooed and muscled men who look scarier than really are!
The ten tracks hit like a bullet. It leaves an impact that will ring in your ears long after the final track “Night’s The Only Time Of Day”. You won’t get any love songs/heartbreak songs on this album. Just ballsy tracks detailing the trials of tribulations of growing up and finding yourself in a world that is not always perfect. Its a soundtrack of learning and experiences, which hold more relevance to the human experience than punk music has become with in recent times.
Stand out tracks are the opener “Unknownly Strong”, “Keep This” and “For A Dreamer” with it gradual fade out which I personally haven’t heard in a song in a long long time. (Think back to maybe old 80’s metal bands for that effect)
This is a straight up punk/hardcore album that packs a punch and holds no prisoners. This record is delivered with a passion that is often found in this style of music but is also never really picked up on by the casual listener. A great record to work out to and unleash some frustrations after a rough day/night/period in life. They’re appearance at Soundwave Counter Revolution is one I'm now looking forward to. Get this album!
