Less Than Jake - “Greetings From Less Than Jake”
July 13th 2011 09:24
This EP came unannounced and for a fiver through the bands website. As a long time fan of the band, I was mostly disappointed with the last few albums “GNV FLA” and “In With Out Crowd”. There were no catchy anthems to sing along to and thats what made Less Than Jake so good. Plus the band had moved away from ska and into a punk/rock band with horns.
They took some time off. Released a novelty TV themed EP (“TVEP”) and found some of that mojo and the first look is this EP. The upbeat ska numbers are back, as is the melodic punk rock tracks that sing like anthems. ‘Harvey Wallbanger’ is your typical singalong track with a ton of groove, horn breaks and punchy guitars. ‘Oldest Trick In The Book’ is a motivating ska track with reggae feel to get your skanking shoes on and dancing. ‘Life Lived Out Loud’ is a great fast paced punk track and is enough to reconfirm to this old fan that the band still has it and can still be relevant to modern punk rock scene.
