Laurie from We Are Grace had a quick chat to us about all things going on with We Are Grace. Being very secretive about his band members tour habits and how there’s too many beautiful women out there to write songs for, he also let us in on the meaning behind the new single “Yes, I Blame You” and where there influences come from.
Give us the We Are Grace story? How did the band come together?
The band is a collaboration of members from previous bands who share a love of music and also share a love of the same musicians/bands. Occasionally we enjoy each others company as well.
Tell us about the new single 'Yes, I Blame You'? Whats the song about?
The song is about blaming the opposite party for the decline of a relationship
Talk us through the songwriting process for We Are Grace?
A main song writer will bring a majority of an idea for a song and the rest of the band will use their musical expertise to fine tune the song to the final outcome
You've moved away from songs named after girls. Is it 'cause you've run out of girls to sing about?
Ha never! There are plenty of attractive girls out there the problem started becoming we couldn't pronounce their names or they all have the same name. Do you know how many beautiful Jessica's and Megan's there are floating around!
Who are some of the bands musical influences?
The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, Queens of The Stone Age & Elbow just to name a few!!
Any bad habits discovered while been out on tour?
None that I can divulge. What happens on tour stays on tour.
What would be the first track you'd put onto a mix tape?
Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"
Wanna know more? Of course you do. Well, go out check a few tracks they've put up vis their JJJ Unearthed page.
