October 13th 2010 11:38
The Small Affairs have been crafting their brand of British tinged indie rock for the last three years. With the release of their debut EP ‘Words From A Stranger’, the band will be in Sydney on the 15th playing MUM @ World Bar. Ren from the band took a moment to answer a few questions about the latest from Small Affairs.
Whats been happening in the Small Affairs camp lately?
A whole lot of promoting, playing and partying.. trying to get SA heard by as many people as possible. We just played our first show in Adelaide on grand final day to a really fun and drunk crowd.
Give the readers the Small Affairs history lesson?
Small Affairs was started by our singer Cam and guitarist Matt after the their last band died. The rest of us came along a little later, now we are releasing the second EP, it feels like we are on to something good, we are getting really positive feedback and having a lot of fun playing the new songs.
Tell us a bit about the last EP ‘Words From A Stranger’?
Just Small Affairs doing what we do best, some good upbeat rock tunes that hopefully grab your attention right from the start. We have become really tight as a band and I couldn't have wished for a better result.
It definitely has an interesting album cover, where did the photo come from?
This was a photo from my friend Nick Dale a photographer that just gets to party with models way too much and always seems to get these cool party shots. It just seemed to sum up our sound in a picture for some reason haha
Who have been some of the bands biggest influences?
definitely a lot of the old brit rock bands like The Rolling stones and The Kinks through to bands like the Libertines and The Arctic Monkeys
What lies ahead for the summer for Small Affairs?
Hopefully this EP will get us some more attention and we can just keep partying with the people that like what we do
What should fans expect when they come out to see you play at MUM@ World Bar on the 15th?
A fucking good time.
Whats the first song you would put on a mix tape?
Happiness is a warm gun - The Beatles .. or anything else by those guys.
