Frank Turner- love,ire & song

The lonely folk/punk troubadour has captured my attention in the same way The Gaslight Anthem did a few years ago. I just can't get enough of this man's songs and in particular this album. Singing songs of love, loneliness, friendships and anguish, Frank Turner sings with a passion that comes from deep within the heart and soul and wraps these words around simple chords and melodies to create a great record. The songs are easy to digest and continue to grow on me even after a few weeks of constant plays.
"Photosynthesis" may well become my anthem for this year with the great singalong chorus of "no i won't sit down, and i won't shut up and most of all, i will not grow up." 'Long Live The Queen' is a beautiful tale about a friend who passed away from breast cancer and despite the subject being sad, there's a positiveness to the song that makes it more heartfelt. 'Substitute' talks about his love for music and how it is more of a companion to him than a relationship. Yet from talking about remaining single and alone, he can then turn that all around with 'Love Worth Keeping'. A beautiful love song that shows that sometimes you can write a love song without it sounding cheesy or like a whiny teenager.
I could easily continue to bang on about how much I love this record. Granted it was released a few years ago and I am only now getting on the Frank Turner bandwagon but it's a case of better late then never. The songs are personal but accessible and easily related too. touring this April/May as a apart of the Revival Tour, I strongly recommend you go out and see him play. You will be impressed.
